The Malawi under-20 National Football Team has left the country for this year’s edition of the COSAFA Youth Championship to be hosted by Eswatini starting this Friday.
During the event that will close on 16 October, the junior Flames will play in group C alongside South Africa, Namibia and the Comoros.
The competition will also be used as a zonal qualifier for next year’s under-20 Total-Energies Africa Cup of Nations with the winners and runners-up set to feature at the continental showpiece in Egypt.
Meanwhile, team coach Patrick Mabedi has refused to give his boys a target, saying doing so may put them under unnecessary pressure.
Mabedi is however confident that his charges will perform.
