CDEDI calls for firing of Mkaka, Mbawala and 3 other public servants
The Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has asked President Lazarus Chakwera to fire 3 top government officials and 2 cabinet ministers who are suspected of corruption and abuse of office.
The four officials are Director of IFMIS Felix Zagwazatha Sato, Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Steven Kayuni, Minister of Mining Albert Mbawala, and Accountant General Jean Munyenyembe.
It is alleged that the four abused office by awarding themselves hefty allowances illegally.
CDEDI has also asked the President to sack Minister of Natural Resources Eisenhower Mkaka who is under investigation by the Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB).
Executive Director of CDEDI Sylvester Namiwa has pointed out that Chakwera has been dropping cabinet ministers who are suspected of corruption, hence the need to fire Mkaka and Mbawala.
Namiwa has added that the four government officials must face the the law as the junior accountants who are answering criminal charges for giving themselves hefty allowances.
