FDH Bank Plc. has donated a K190-million Yutong Custom bus to the Malawi national football team, the Flames.
Speaking at the handover ceremony in Blantyre, FDH Financial Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer, William Mpinganjira, pledged the institution’s continued commitment to sponsoring the team.

“We will continue to support our national teams. We support various teams under the FA. As a bank we will also help the national beach soccer team, as they travel to participate at the Africa Cup of Nations-AFCON in Mozambique,” Mpinganjira assured.

Walter Nyamilandu who is Football Association of Malawi (FAM) President has commended the bank for the gesture.
“This is like Christimas to us. It is something we did not expect. It will help us to save a lot of costs, improve players’ welfare and performance among others, ” he highlighted.

The gesture by the Flames’ official sponsor, is in fulfilment of a pledge made in January this year after the team’s qualification into the round of 16 at AFCON finals in Cameroon.

Meanwhile, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) has given a tax waiver on the bus, thus allowing it to be imported free of duty.
