Reunion Insurance Company Limited, is optimistic that the 2022 Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (MIPS) conference will provide a platform for participants to share knowledge for improving the profession.
The company’s Technical Manager responsible for Business Development and Claims, Hastings Kapesa made the remarks during the handover of K5 Million towards the 2022 Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply-MIPS in Blantyre.
To be held under the theme Building resilience in procurement and supply chain management in Malawi, the conference is scheduled for September 22 – 24, at Sunbird Nkopola in the lakeshore district of Mangochi.
Kapesa notes that MIPS plays a vital role in promoting professionalism in the local procurement and supply sector.
This year’s conference comes amid growing public concern over cases of misprocurement and other flaws in the supply chain, both in the public and private sector.
In his remarks, MIPS Finance and Administration Officer, Mwizayekha Madise, thanked the Insurance firm for the kind gesture, saying the sponsorship will effectively assist in the preparations for the conference.
“We are very grateful to Reunion and we urge other organizations to emulate what the insurance company has done,” said Madise.
MIPS is a membership body for the procurement and supply professionals, established under an Act of Parliament of 2016.
The institute aims to regulate the profession and develop the interests of the professionals in all sectors.
The institute promotes professionalism in procurement and supply in Malawi through partnerships with stakeholders at different levels, to ensure sustainability of credible procurement practice through providing platforms for knowledge, experience sharing and networking.
