UTM President Saulos Chilima is claiming that DPP officials are using fuel cards from the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA).
Chilima remains adamant that the MRA and Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) are funding the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) campaign.
Speaking in Neno on Wednesday during his whistle-stop tour, he challenged the government to institute an audit from the two parastatals, saying he has evidence at hand.
This however is not the first time that he has made accusations which the ruling party has on all occasions vehemently denied and described the allegations as cheap politics.
Apart from that, Chilima highlited several other issues including the state of the roads in the district which have for a long time been a concern for people in the area.
Many are unable to access various services especially in the rainy season as most roads remain impassable. He assured residents in the area that the contractor constructing the road in the area should be taken to task for shoddy work on the road currently under construction in the area.
To add on that, the UTM leader also pointed out the lack of proper infrastructure in the area.
This was also pointed out by the community saying that teachers and medical practitioners have no proper housing structures and end up finding residence in places far from where they work.
There was no immediate comment from the DPP and the two parastatals on the latest claims made by Chilima.
