Rab Group of Companies has partnered with the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) on a three-year contract which will see the company becoming the official supply of water to Malawi National Football Team, the Flames.
Speaking at Chiwembe Technical Centre on Tuesday in Blantyre, Rab Group Marketing Manager, Anthony Kafuwa said with the sponsorship, Vital Rab Premium Purified Still Water would be the official water for the Flames and FAM.
He said that with the sponsorship which valued at K7 million annually, Rab would be donating 33, 000 bottles of Vital Premium Purified Still Water annually to the Flames whereby 130 crates of water would be distributed monthly and 1,500 crates per year.
“Of late, there have been reports that the Flames is not doing well and most of the stakeholders have alluded that to management of the coaches but we feel that as Malawians, we have a role to play to revitalize the Flames,” Kafuwa explained.
While showing his delight and expressing appreciation with the gesture shown by Rab, FAM President, Walter Nyamilandu said that, “Water is life and when you are an athlete, what you need is water to perform to the highest standards.
“This water will make a huge difference to us as FAM. It will help us to save money we spend in buying bottled water while to the players it will help them to be hydrated all the time. This will help the Flames to do well as we also want the vital brand to be associated with a winning team.”
Malawi Under-23 National team will play against Zambia in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on March 20, 2019 at the Kamuzu Stadium and a return leg on March 24, 2019 in Lusaka, Zambia.
