The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested three business persons for attempting to bribe a public officer.

The three are identified as Kashif Gilbert and Abbas Nasser and Youssef Abdul Khalek Nassour.

In a statement, ACB Senior Public Relations Officer Egritta Ndala explains that Gilbert and Nasser aided Khalek to corruptly give MK10 million to a Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) manager.

The bribe was allegedly meant to ensure that a case file on tax evasion against Khalek Nassour and other accomplices goes missing.

Khalek Nassour and his two accomplices travelled from Lilongwe to Blantyre where they intended to give the bribe to the manager.

The MRA alerted the ACB and the police who later arrested the three after they had produced the intended bribe.

According to Ndala, Kashif Gilbert and Abbas Nasser are likely to be charged with aiding and abetting a corrupt practice.

Khalek Nassour will be charged with corrupt practices with a public officer.
