VIP tickets to the Riaad Moosa showcase are almost sold out a month before his performance, organisers of the event Qoncept Creative have revealed.
The team has invited South African stand up comedian Moosa who is expected to perform at the BICC on March 30th in Lilongwe.
Moosa is an award winning Indian-born South African comedian, actor and a doctor, popular for his pieces such as State Capture, Jo’burg Indians and Whatsapp groups.
“Preparations are going on well, tickets are already on the market and are already selling, by next week we estimate that our VIP tickets will be sold out with the way ticket sales are going on,” Director of Qoncept Creative Q Malawezi said.
According to Malewezi they normally start their marketing drive for the show this March.
“Malawi has a very good audience, the feedback from the comedians that have performed here is they relay loved performing in Malawi the its captive, the audience is quiet, (says with a laugh), they are very responsive as wel,l” Malewezi adds.
Other comedians that have performed in the country on Qoncept’s ticket include Uganda’s Annie Kansime, Nigeria’s Basket Mouth, as well as Malawi’s own Dalitso Chaponda.
Most Malawians have been yearning for big SA stand-up comedian acts like Trevor Noah, Trevor Gumbi and Kagiso Ladiga to perform in the country.
Malewezi indicates that he has been receiving questions on why Qoncept has settled for Moosa and not any of the acts that may seem to has an audience waiting for them.
“Riaad is someone that i have been following for a while, that question whoever it is, people always ask why this one, but at the end of the day doesn’t really matter who you choose, because that questions always comes up.
He adds, “Riaad is an established comedian and we are looking forward to hosting him in Malawi”.
