The football Association of Malawi (FAM) is calling for the re-incorporation of sports into the country’s curricular.
The association, led by President Walter Nyamilandu appeared before the Parliamentary Committee on Social and Community Affairs on Wednesday.
During the meet, the committee expressed disappointment with the continued poor performance of Malawi’s football team, the Flames.
Nyamilandu however points out the need for the development of the sport in general, from the grassroots.
“We do not have the structures to develop football in Malawi.”
“We need to have the government sponsoring school competitions and also sponsor those competitions,” Nyamilandu said.
The FAM president is confident that if such changes were to be made, they would have a huge impact on the state of football in the country.
