Nyasa Big Bullest are expected to leave the country today for Zanzibar and Tanzania for friendly matches in preparation for the continental CAF Champions League.
In Zanzibar Bullets are to play JKU tomorrow, a team they beat two nil in another friendly a few weeks ago at Kamuzu Stadium and on Friday they are scheduled to take on Simba of Tanzania.
Bullets and Silver Strikers are Malawi’s representatives in this year’s CAF tournaments with the bankers featuring in Confederations Cup.
Both teams are scheduled to play their first games away in the last weekend of this month with Bullets taking on Kenya’s Gor Mahia while Silver dates A.O.C.M.S of Gabon.
Sundowns, Pirates, Ismaily of Egypt, ASEC Mimosas of the Ivory Coast and Club Africain of Tunisia are the five former trophy-holders in the preliminary round.
Ismaily, champions in 1969 and back in the competition after an eight-year absence, face debutants Le Messager de Ngozi from Burundi.
ASEC, the 1998 champions, face Mangasport of Gabon at home first while 1991 trophy-holders Club Africain begin with a long trek south to play APR of Rwanda.
It is 41 years since the other Ivorian challengers, Sporting Club de Gagnoa, last competed in the Champions League and they meet Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura from Algeria.
First legs are scheduled for 27 and 28 November, with the return matches on 4 and 5 December.
