Malawian swimmer Joyce Tafatatha has won the 50 metre freestyle race at the London Olympics at 27.74 seconds.
The 14 year-old came head to head with Great Britain’s Amy Smith.
She was competing in heat four lane two at 11.00 this morning.
Tafatatha was the first Malawian athlete to compete today as the athletics games kicked off at Olympic Stadium.
Ambwene Simukonda is scheduled to race in the womens’ 400 metres at 1pm local time and Mike Tebulo will not be in action until on the 12th of this month in the men’s marathon.
