A fierce fire completely destroyed a five bed roomed house in Chiwabvi Township in Mzuzu on Thursday night, killing a teenage boy identified as Promise.

Witnesses told our reporter who rushed to the scene that fire fighters came late after the house and all the property had already burned down to ashes.

The owners only managed to rescue a vehicle parked in the compound but was also partly burnt.

The owner of the rented house has only been identified as Mrs Banda.

It is suspected that the boy died due to suffocation after he inhaled smoke. The family managed to retrieve the body which was partially burnt, according to our reporter.

The cause of the fire is not yet known
