The Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association of Malawi has received K3 million from retired Chief justice Richard Banda for their preparations of the London Olympics.

Banda is husband to President Joyce Banda.

The donation comes as Malawian athletes are preparing to leave the country for the games this weekend.

He made the donation during an audience with representatives of the Malawi Olympic Committee and the Malawi Council of Sports officials at Mtunthama State Lodge in Lilongwe.

Speaking in the presence of sports minister Enoch Chihana, Banda said the donation shows his passion and dedication to promoting sports in the country.

Banda wishes to see Malawian athlete’s excelling at the Olympics this year.
