League leaders, BE FORWARD Wanderers will on 17 September kick-off their Super League second round campaign with a home match against defending champions, Kamuzu Barracks at the Balaka Stadium in Balaka District.

They are coming from a loss to arch-rival Nyasa Big Bullets in Malawi’s FA Cup sponsored by multinational brewer, Carlsberg.

The Nomads head into this week’s league football as leaders with 35 points, one ahead of Silver Strikers who remain unbeaten.

On 10 September, Silver Strikers failed to ascend to the top of the league table when they drew nil-nil against Blue Eagles in an away Lilongwe city derby played at the Nankhaka Stadium.

In other matches, Premier Bet Wizards were beaten 2-1 by Azam Tigers in a Blantyre city derby played at the Mulanje Park Stadium in Mulanje district.

Misheck Botomani, Bonda Mpinganjira and Luke Chima with the goals there.

It ended MAFCO 3 – 0 Blantyre United. Callisto Kalinda, Emmanuel Chipeta, Joseph Donsa were on target for the Salima based soldiers.

Mzuzu’s Moyale Barracks beat Red Lions 2-1 in an all MDF combat staged at Mzuzu Stadium.  Kuda Muyaba, Deus Mkulu scored for the home side while Mphatso Ngwira scored through a penalty for Zomba’s Red Lions.

On Saturday, visitors Dwangwa United beat Blantyre United three nil.

As stated earlier, Wanderers who have a game in hand are on top, they are followed by Silver Strikers who remain unbeaten with 34 points from 16 matches. The strikers are six points ahead of third placed Big Bullets. 

Fourth placed Blue Eagles, fifth placed MAFCO and sixth placed Moyale Barracks are tied on 25 points. The three have played 16 matches apiece.

Civil Sporting wrap the top seven with 22 points from 15 matches.

The bottom three has Dwangwa United, Blantyre United and Chitipa United. Dwangwa United sit on fourteenth with 14 points from 16 matches. They are three points ahead of Blantyre United who have played 17 matches. The Blantyre based side is tied on 11 points with anchors Chitipa United who have played 15 matches.
