WHO assists Malawi in cholera fight as outbreak worsens

Malawi has received Cholera medical supplies from the World Health Organization-WHO to help in containing the outbreak.

The donation consists of cholera treatment equipment and medical supplies.

The Ministry of Health is struggling to contain the cholera outbreak with over 5000 cumulative confirmed cases registered so far, from 26 districts.

The death toll stands at over 167 and hundreds others admitted to treatment units.

Minister responsible, Khumbize Chiponda extended her appreciation to the WHO and partners for the support in the fight against cholera.

WHO representative in Malawi Neema Kimambo said her organization is committed to support Malawi until no more cases are reported.

The rising cholera infections in Malawi continue to be a big cause for concern for the World Health Organisation.
