On Wednesday, Multichoice announced what it calls a massive decoder price slash special in Blantyre which they say is no April fool’s day joke!
To coincide with the price special the company also unveiled its plans to launch in Mzuzu later this month.
“As part of our commitment to assist with the digital migration in Malawi and to allow our clients have access to digital television at a price everyone can afford we have introduced this subsidised decoder price special of MWK16, 999 for a GOtv decoder, a GO antenna and 1 month GOtv Plus subscription” said MultiChoice Malawi Sales and Marketing Manager.
According to Chimwemwe Nyirenda, they have slashed our decoder prices by more than 50% plus GOtv will also be available to residents of Mzuzu from 8 April 2015. In addition, consumers who by a decoder will also stand a chance to win one of three Flat screen TV’s.”
The competition dubbed Finding Malawi’s Working Oldest TV is available to anyone who buys a GOtv decoder at the reduced price including current subscribers.
Customers need to take a picture of their current TV together with a GOtv decoder and load it on to the GOtv Malawi Facebook page.
Prizes will be awarded to one lucky subscriber from Blantyre, Lilongwe and Mzuzu.
Nyirenda said on April 11, the Mzuzu stadium will be transformed into a hive of activities with performances by some of Malawi’s top musicians plus a live soccer match between the Big Bullets FC from Blantyre and Mzuzu’s own Moyale Barracks FC.
The next day GOtv will host a family day at the Sunbird Mzuzu Hotel Boma Park with live gospel music from the likes of the Great Angels Choir, Limbani Simenti, Martha Nthakomwa and Kelvin Sato.
He added that consumers will also be treated to a kid’s carnival and a mobile salon as a special treat for the ladies.
Entrance to both the events will be free to anyone who will purchase a GOtv decoder at the venue.
GOtv channel lineup includes –Malawi TV, SuperSport Select 2, BET, CNN International, Discovery World, Disney Junior, Jim Jam TV, One Gospel, Africa Magic World, Telemundo, Sony Max, E! Entertainment Zee World and Sony EntertainmentTelevision.
“As a digital operator, we understand that content is very important that is why the GOtv channels have been carefully selected to offer a host relevant international and local channels made in Africa for Africa to cater for a variety of tasted for the whole family”, said Nyirenda.
He concluded by saying that the digital terrestrial television platform is aimed at enabling Malawi achieve speedy migration to the digital age.
GOtv now covers Blantyre and its surrounding areas, Lilongwe and surrounds and will launch in Mzuzu on April 11 in its pursuit to enable the government achieve a speedy migration from analogue to digital broadcasting.
