Soya bean producers and traders in Malawi have many reasons to smile, as the crop is fetching competitive prices on the international market.

Information from the United States Department of Agriculture shows that as of August 20, 2014,  Soya was selling at US$468.58 per metric ton on the world market.

According to the Auction Holding Commodity Exchange (AHLCX) market update for week ending 29th August, prices of Soya are still going up with the highest going at 216 Kwacha per kg.

The AHLCX team also revealed that the crop is selling well locally.

Recently, the Minister of Industry and Trade, Joseph Mwanamvekha, expressed concern that some traders who sell crops at the produce market continue to benefit at the expense of farmers.

He has since called for sellers to offer better prices  so that the farmers benefit as well.

Your article is brilliant. The points you make are valid and well represented. I have read other articles like this but they paled in comparison to what you have here.
